Feedback from Workshop Participants

“As group leaders they share a common profession as social workers and graduate level instructors, but the group is especially enhanced by what each brings from the different life experiences of an African American feminist/artist/activist and a white woman with a background of privilege and a clear commitment to staying in this work with a high level of humbleness and accountability. The fact that they have worked together for over twenty years and have a unique depth of friendship and connection has brought another wonderful dimension to the group.”

Susie Snyder, LCSW, Trainer, Professor

“This has been the richest continuing ed opportunity I've ever taken part in. I'm so grateful to Lisa and Shauna for their guidance and teaching along this journey.”

— Jessica Busse, Medical Social Worker

“Positive energy, astute skills and compassion are at the heart of Lisa Race as a professional. In addition, her experiences as a clinician, teacher, and social justice activist add even more value to her workshops. Lisa integrates such unique ways of sharing that address different learning styles as she incorporates relevant stories, humor, and activities while also engaging participants strengths and experiences. You will leave her workshops knowing more, feeling so inspired, and wanting to attend another one!”

— Kimberly Kraus LCSW , Private Practitioner

“Participating in the anti-racist group has allowed me a deeper dive into understanding how I embody white supremacist attitudes, without ever consciously agreeing to it. White supremacy entitlement has been passed to me by previous generations and though systemic racist practices around me, and this group is giving me a chance to safely face what is true about that, and to work on changing that in myself.”

— Karen Lindsey, LCSW, Women’s Health Clinic

“The group has helped me challenge my ideas and beliefs about white supremacy, racism and my role in it all in ways I couldn't do on my own or by simply reading a book. It helped me do it in a community of caring clinicians, whose example really helped me push beyond my own mental barriers in order to widen my understanding. Thank you Lisa and Shauna for such an informed, thorough and heart-felt group.”

— Ariana Lloyd, LCSW, Lloyd Collective

“After dragging my feet to start licensure supervision, believing that the process would be just another hoop to jump through, I have been pleasantly surprised by my work with Lisa. I look forward to having Lisa’s support in building my clinical skills. She is a skilled weaver of knowledge and refreshing insight. Providing both reassurance and the push to grow. "

Feedback on Supervision

“Lisa asks really good questions, which invites me to introspect. To delve deeper into my own thinking, my own feelings and beliefs and how this shows up in my personal and professional life. She is supportive in considering all aspects of the work and does not shy away from the difficult considerations and conversations. She exemplifies use of self in the way she conducts supervision and holds space for challenging emotions and frustrations while also holding space for hope. She grounds us in mind/body practice as we navigate the emotionally charged terrain of making sense of social work grounded in social justice. I appreciate conversations with Lisa (and usually wish I had wrote down verbatim what she’s said), her support during challenging times and reflecting back our strengths to remind us of our potential.

— Dominique Price, CSWA

“Supervision with Lisa has made me feel so supported in my work. She models approaching difficult situations with openness, curiosity, compassion, and skill. I feel nourished after meeting with her, both individually and in the group setting, along with feeling like I have gained solid tools for growth in my clinical practice. Supervision with Lisa has been a space where I have been allowed to struggle and grow as a clinician.”

— Brittany Bucholz, LCSW School Social Worker
